Silicon Metal is silver gray or dark gray powder with metallic luster, which be of high melting point, good heat resistance, high resistivity and superior oxidation resistance,which is a very important industrial product can be used in steel-making, cast iron, aluminum (aviation, aircraft & automobile parts production), and silicon optoelectronic device and many other industries. It's made from quartz and coke in electric heating furnace smelting products. The main ingredient of silicon content is about 98%. The rest of impurities is iron, aluminum and calcium etc.
Introduction
Silicon metal 553 is a commonly used grade. In the metal silicon 553, the silicon content should be as high as 98.5%. The contents of iron, aluminum, and calcium are 0.5%, 0.5%, and 0.3% respectively.Silicon 553 and silicon 441 are mainly used in the production of aluminum ingots.Adding silicon metal to aluminium alloys makes them strong and light.
Silicon metal 553 generally the diameter is 10-50mm,50-100mm,10-100mm or other sizes as customer’s request.
Silicon metal is a gray and shiny semiconductor metal,also known as crystalline silicon or industrial silicon, is mainly used as an additive for non-ferrous alloys which smelted from quartz and coke in an electric furnace.
Silicon Metal 553 uses:
1. Aluminum alloy ingot production, as additive of silicon content.
2. Dioxidizer in steelmaking as replacement of ferrosilicon.
3. As raw materials to produce poly-crystalline silicon.
